Does anyone know how to install the DFS replication service on Server 2003 R2 SP2 via the command line? is this even possible? i have been googling all day and can't find anything that tells how to install roles, features, or services from the command line... about to pull my hair out.
Surely there is a way of doing this without having to manually do it on each server.. i need to do this on about 200 servers.

Hi,
The ServerManagerCmd can install the DFS management, however, it’s only applied to Windows Server 2008R2, see here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731089

Hi,
Try "Sysocmgr.exe" once.
Hope this link may help you "How to add or remove Windows Components by using Sysocmgr.exe:" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/222444

Monday, July 30, 2012 3:42 PMThanks for that info i think that's going to be a big help. it appears however that the installation requires the Service Pack 2 CD and the Windows Server 2003 R2 Disk 2 to access additional files needed for setup. i think i can overcome the Service Pack 2 prompt by changing the "ServicePack SourcePath" in the registry to look at the C:\i386 folder, but i am not sure how to handle the prompt to insert disk 2... Any ideas? i guess i could put the needed files in a install package and push it to the servers but i am not sure how to let the installer know where to look for the files.

Wednesday, August 01, 2012 1:50 AMFor the record i was able to overcome the prompt for disk 2 by copying the COMPNTS (i might have spelled that wrong) to the root of the C: drive. Thanks again for your help.
