New server build for small office.   ( all intel server  components, chassis- MB -CPU  with latest Bios installed)    Loaded server 2008 R2 SP1 standard OS yesterday 02/06/2013  with  recommended updates no issues at all.     Next day no issues until loaded additional recommended updates from microsoft  02/07/2013 ... on reboot nothing but black screen.   Any thoughts ?  Thank you in advance.

    Hi Drjsr,

Bad update or a faulty hardware. Did you update hardware driver via windows update ? I never do, but if you did maybe a faulty driver came from there.

    Thanks

In additon to yagmoth555's suggestion, try updating the firmwares on the server.

Thanks for the input Yagmoth555.   No.   All drivers for MB (intel S1200BLT) where updated during the intial OS load using the latest  Intel Deployment Assistant 5.0 program  (  intel web site).    Os load went smooth.  I immediately ran microsoft update until no more  updates where available( 02/06/2013).    Server ran without issues.    Next day( 02/07/2013) rechecked for  updates,  new ones available  ... on required reboot WALA  black screen with no curser.     I can get to Bios setup with F2 key  all looks well there.    Yes, Bad update possible.

Thanks Santosh,   Prior to inital OS load I did update latest firmware from intel web site.  That  incidently corrected the " rear fan running to fast issue"  I was having  with the intel MB S1200BLT & intel chassis P4304XXSFCN.   Yes  reloading the  firmware  good input.

Thanks for the input cguan,    I can not answer you.  We seem not to be able to get into safe mode using F8 key.  Will try again.   Maybe posting to fast for us.   Will try holding down F8 or using    fn F8 combo.

In all case if you can, please do the "Enable Boot Logging" and check the file ntbtlog.txt in your %systemroot%.

The last line would be the faulty driver triing to load up.
