Anti-Virus software on VMware Windows 2003 Server

I started working Part time for a company that I don't have much information to provide, hopefully what i can provide will be helpfull to get the answer I need.
I know there are about 6 Windows Server 2003 that are Virtual Servers, the IT person there does not know if they are VMWARE or what and I don 't know how to check since I have not worked with VM servers. What I do know is ---they (the servers) do not have any anti-virus software on them...i was asked if there are any free anti-virus software packages out there that can be installed on VM Servers (Windows Server 2003) ? they don't want to spend money (well who doesn't) however if there is not a free program, what antivirus program would be good at a decent price? I do know that the client computers do have MSE installed on them.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

MSE does not work with WS 2003.
It's hard to find free AV products for Server Operating Systems, that said, ClamWin Free Antivirus claims that it works with WS 2003 as well. Other free av products like AVG, Avira might work with WS 2003.
Following discussions might help as well
Antivirus for Windows Server 2003 SP2
Anti-virus for small network Windows Server 2003
Thanks

As I know, AVG Free and Avira Free won't work on Windows Server products. I tried installing a previous version of MSE on a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine and it worked, but not have a chance to try on a Windows Server 2003 machine.
Note: The above informaiton about AVG and Avira is provided AS IS.

Friday, January 04, 2013 12:13 AMAdudha, you have ClamWin free version working on your Server 2003. I just noticed that it is not real time scanning, how is it working out since it is not real time scanning?

Monday, January 07, 2013 12:56 PMUm, I don't know about using it for a company, but I use Unthreat Antivirus which is a free antivirus. I'm very happy with it and I feel that it preforms the best out of all the other free antiviruses I've used. I recommend you try it!
