I have Windows Server 2008 R2 on a virtual machine (VM). This is a fresh installation on Windows Server 2008 R2.  I cannot download programs since I am getting message that is saying that the site is not part of Trusted Site. I went to Internet Options –Security and could not change the settings there. The settings are disabled. The custom level and default level are disabled.

I believe a need a local admin account. How do I establish one. What's the solution to this. Thanks a lot.

    Mayank

During windows installation you're prompted to enter strong password for local administrator account which is credentials you should use.

Thanks Dave. But I don't recall getting that option or did not pay attention. How do I make the change now.

You can't. I'd just start over with install.

Are you sure you're not an admin already? Can you type "net localgroup administrators" and see if your user account is part of that group?

    Hi Mayank

Did you try to go ti Internet Exporer shortcur, right click on it an ther choose option "Run As Administrator".

Then you sholud be able to change settings of Internet Explorer.

If you are not local administrator or domain administrator on this server you will be prompted to type username and password with valid credentials
