    Hi.

I have WS 2008 R2 installed on 2 servers, I have a customer who wants a hardware stress performance test that works with Windows Server (Memory, CPU, I/O, etc). I've read that I'll need a 3rd party tool to do so. ¿Which 3rd party software can do what this customer wants?

I hope anyone can help me

    thanks!!!!

Sort of depends on the specifics of what the customer would like to see metrics on, but in general I like the products from PassMark: http://www.passmark.com/

For I/O, iometer (http://www.iometer.org/) is a well accepted standard for testing I/O latency and throughput.

Edit:  you can also get a lot of data from perfmon and the built-in performance counters.  While these don't generate load for testing, they do provide a wide range of metrics and data on the performance of the operating system and hardware.

    You can see that: http://www.tested.com/tech/pcs/762-how-to-stress-test-your-hardware-and-keep-your-pc-stable/

As Microsoft does not provide such stressing tools, the answers will be best-effort ones.

    Hello,

    What type of server?

Go to the mfg Web site, Dell and others provide diagnostic software that loops (runs over and over) for catching intermittent problems. These can be used to perform stress tests and are very effective.
