Not able to logon to Domain Controllers.

Hello all,
I have 2 virtual DCs running Win2k3 Enterprise (x64) in a VMware environment and just patched them to current patch releases. After the reboot, the font on the ctrl-alt-del box has changed and it allows me to logon. But, it never gets to the desktop for any domain admins even after letting it go overnight. I haven't tried to RDP to them yet, I will try that on Monday.
Has anyone run into this problem and fixed it? I really don't want to rebuild the domain again as it contains computer/user accounts.
Thanks in advance,
LL

I have had it happen on desktops. From what I remember one of several things were used to get around this, but I was not about to spend time trying to solve:
-reboot
-clear up drive space (done remotely).
-restore.

when you logon you dont see the desktop isn't it ? if yes then you may try pressing the ctrl-alt-del and try accessing the task manager from there go to run and type explorer.exe and see what happens.
Alternatively you may also try restarting the computer in the safe mode and check if the issue presists and in case there is no issue and please perform a clean boot and check it.

Explorer.exe wasn't running. I tried to start it and it gave me a permissions error. I had locked the server down with DISA STIGs and one of the regs was the culprit.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions,
LL
