I have a Windows 2008 R2 VM server that shutdowns every hour. The event log states "The kernel power manager has initiated a shutdown transition" and no other errors.

    Mubasshir,

Thank you for your quick reponse.

    1. This is a new server I just stood up last week and will be used for testing only. I thought I had 30 days to activate?

    2. Antivirus isn't installed yet as it's going to be an EPO test server.

    3. It's stand alone, not on a network.

    4. Event ID 109

    Hi,

    Thank you for the post.

Do you use VMWare to deploy the vm server? As far as I know, this issue may happened when VMWare tools were outdated, you should update VMWare tools.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the update.

I suggest you engage VMware for possible causes on Kernel Power Management triggering a restart.

This didn't work. I'm going to setup a KMS server and just activate it. I think that will perhaps solve the problem.
