Answered Map Drive File Access Slow!? after AD install on Server 2008 R2

I have recently installed AD on a Server 2008 R2 Foundation.

Roles - AD, DHCP, DNS, File Services, Network Policies, Print and Document

Previously it was running a workgroup where local computers would access data files for a front end program by looking in a mapped drive.

With new remote office locations, the need to VPN has come. This required me to install the AD and then Network Policies.

The setup works locally as well as on VPN, but file access is ridiculously slow compared to the workgroup setup.

If I navigate to a folder with a large amount of files, it takes minutes just to load icons for the .exe files.

What could be the issue? Why does it work fine on a workgroup but not on a Domain?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Unfortunately this did not help.

As previously mentioned, map drive performance when the server is set to work group is fast, Only when it is set as a domain is it slow.
