    how would i know if the computer is using Windows 2008 Server r2.

    I'm newbie here so that i don't have any idea even i read for it.

    Hello Pio, 

    Do you like to know the version of OS?. If so, here is a command which helps you to identify os version.

    wmic os get Caption,CSDVersion /value

    Start -> Run -> type Winver {Click OK or press Enter}

    Another way is to look at the lock screen, should tell you the OS.
