Master Browser Broadcast

Hi all
I am looking for a way
to stop clients form asking who is the master browers and also to force them to
see who I elect to be the master browers.
My boss asked me to find a way
to force a master browser so that the clients do not look to see who is the
master browers. Is there a way to set it so they only look at who i elect for
the master brower and never ask who is.
Also to not have the master
browser broadcast that it is the master browser.
I have a win 2008 as the
domain controller and that is who i want to be the master browers

let me re-frame your question, How to set IE as default browser across your domain ? Is this your question ? if yes, please have a look at following discussions. If that is not your question, please elaborate in detail what do you mean by "master browsers".
Default Browser via Group policy
Set Firefox default browser via GPO
Set FireFox as default browser using Group Policy / Logon Script
Change Default Browser to Chrome with GPO

This is about the master browser. The service that collects all information about devices on the network. I do not know much about it but I do know it has nothing to do with IE. As I say I am still learning about the master browser and not 100% sure of everything it does and how it works.
Thanks very much for the reply thought.
I do not have time now but I am going to look into the links supplied above by the first reply and see if those help me to acheive what I am asked to find an anwser to.

Thanks.
Those do go into the reg setting in more details than I have been able to find. One thing it does not anwser is if the broadcasting from the master browers will stop notifiying the others it is the master browser. Also if the clients will stop looking for a master browser and only look at the chosen master browser. I need to read into it more and make sure I am not missing that but I do not see anything about the broadcast from either.
Thanks Much

I'm not sure you'll achieve this without disabling altogether. These ones may also help.

I agree with Dave. Either you use the computer browser service as it is or you don't use it at all. You cannot pick and choose which bits you want.
You can minimise name resolution broadcasts by making sure that all clients register with WINS and use WINS for name resolution. But the browser service broadcasts are essential - the browser service has to be able to recover from a browse master failure, so broadcasts and elections are required for a fall-back situation.

Bill,
Dont you think, WINS is obsolete ? Even if you dont have WINS, DNS is capable of managing resolution broadcasts whether or not broser service is turned on or off.

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 7:25 PMI think the master browser broadcast every 12 min. Does anyone know if there is a way to change the interval and set it to a greater amount. If the broadcast can not be disable making it broadcast not as much can kinda help me achieve the goal of less network resources being used. Then also making the clients look for the master browser less is also helpful. I am not sure if I am understanding this service and how it works but if it works how I think this could help Anyone pls correct me if I am wrong Tks all.

Yes, WINS is old but so is the computer browser service. They were designed to work together long before Windows Server used DNS. That only happened with Server 2000.
It is certainly possible to run your system without WINS. It may even be possible to run it without the browser service. You will have to do just that when IPv4 is phased out, because IPv6 has no support for Netbios over TCP/IP, on which they both depend.
