-
Tuesday, October 09, 2012 5:49 PM
I created a ghost image of a 2003 32bit server and tried to restore the image to the same model\type server. I got an error message with the following.
The Logon User interface DLL C:\windwos\system32\msgina.dll failed to load or restart the original DLL. Restart.
Tried to repair the server with the operating system and would not find the disk driver. I found the driver load it to a floppy disk, entered f6, insert the floppy disk. I have a message with the following.
Type EXIT to quit the recovery consule and restart the computer.
1. C:\Windows
which windows installation would you like to log onto
(to cancel, press Enter)?

Hello,
Please note that Ghost product is not supported by Microsoft. For that, I would recommend asking them in Symantec forums. If you want, you can use MS solutions for OS deployment like WDS, SCCM ...
More if you ask them here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserversetup/threads

Hello,
If this error is seen during the image restoring process in Symantec Ghost, please contact Symantec for technical support. Very likely the image file is damaged that caused msgina.dll to be corrupt.
Have you tried Last Know Good Configuration mode? Msgina.dll could be corrupted, you can boot in Safe Mode and replace it with a copy from another known good server. If you cannot boot in Safe Mode, you can boot from a Server 2003 CD, go to the Recovery Console and run the command: expand msgina.dl_ C:\WINNT\system32\msgina.dll
Please also refer to the MS KB as follow:
Error Message: User Interface Failure: The Logon User Interface DLL Msgina.dll Failed to Load

You might want to stick to only one thread.
Here is your previously created thread for the same issue (please refer suggestion from Cheers ZHANG)
