Suitable Anti Virus for Windows Server 2012 and 2008R2

I have been searching for the best and most affordable anti virus for windows server 2012 and windows server 2008 R2.
Can anyone help? meanwhile, is there any free one out there that I can use pending the time I make purchase.
I want to know if I install an anti-virus (network anti virus) on a windows server, do I still have to install anti virus on all client PC in my network?

If you're for some reason not a fan of MS own products you may try AVG:

Free version has some limitations but still makes the job done.

As far as I know MSSE won't install on WS 2012 and isn't a supported configuration. If it will then be sure to check the eula (link), its license doesn't allow it to be used on more than 10 devices in your business though you haven't said if you're commercial and how many servers / clients you need to protect.
Most of the major consumer AV makes also have enterprise versions for use on servers (Symantec (aka Norton), F-Secure, MS, McAfee, Sophos, etc.). Microsoft's version is now part of System Center 2012 and is called Endpoint Protection (SCEP), and it is basically MSSE with more configuration options (like the option to control schedules, and exclude types of files or locations which can be critical on servers), it also has options for centralised management which may or may not be important to you.
Licensing costs vary heavily, personally I've found SCEP cost effective if you have a lot of VMs on a physical server, otherwise it's just a case of trawling around the various suppliers and checking their cost per install (last time I looked they licensed per operating system install) - the price per unit varies a lot depending on the number you need but seem to be broadly competitive with each other.
Finally, yes you absolutely need AV on your clients, in most cases your client PCs will be a much much more common attack vector than your servers as they're used with more applications, are less restricted, are out browsing the internet etc. etc.

Hi,
AVG free does not run in a server OS. (unless they changed)
For server OS I do not known much antivirus you can get free, clamwin worked on 2008R2, but be aware it does not include a real-time scan.
I second Melakh, you need AV on the client too. For client put the AVG free in any other free's one, better than no one.
