HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\PendingXmlIdentifier HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\NextQueueEntryIndex HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\COMPONENTS\AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving Also please provide the event viewer logs for analysis Also i would like to check the permissions using the following method a) identify the system where the updates are successful b) run xcacls on the successful machine ( on the drive ) c) run xcacls on the failure machine and compare the priviliges.

Besides verify whether the three registry keys exist, you may also check the event log, windowsupdate.log. Then check the permissions on the root of C:
