Unanswered Windows update issue

I have a Windows 2003 server. If I go to update.microsoft.com, I see the error 0x80248015. I have gone through several possible fixes and checks and haven't found a resolution.

    • regsvr32 wupdinfo.dll -- file not found
    • regsvr32 wups2.dll -- register works but doesn't fix issue
    • *.microsoft.com is in trusted sites
    • no proxy is set in IE

I would appreciate any help on this.

    Few things to try...

    Reset Windows Update components

Disable antivirus services and windows firewall temporarily

Make sure Server Date and Time are correct.

I tried the steps (skipped step 4 as it suggests) but I still have the same error. I will try step 4 today.

OK, I tried step 4 and now I have a different error number 0x80190193. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.

Please also run chkdsk /r /f and sfc /scannow.

    See also that: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-AU/itproxpsp/thread/ad57f8ff-32bc-45d0-8f02-e3e11f4d92ff

Please also try to uninstall all unused programs on the servers. Better if you do a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/331796

Thank you. Check disk (read-only) showed errors. I will run it tonight to correct them. SFC /scannow did not fix the issue.

IE settings are already confirmed. If check disk does not fix it, then clean boot would be the next step.

If checkdisk or clean boot doesn't work, Perform an In-Place Upgrade of Windows Server 2003

Check disk did not help. Unfortunately I will have to stop at this point since too much time has been spent and this server is to be replaced in the near future.

    Thanks.
