We have a software that extracts product and consumer information from there. The program was developed in VB 6 and in one field it contains an arrow on which you can click to pop up a list of all products available. On most pc's it works perfectly on some it has a lagg like 1-10 minutes where nothing happends. I analysed networking devices and applications and so i did with the server. It seems to be a client problem in the software. It is strange that this happens at random and "infects" more pcs. I dont think its a virus or something cause we are working in a high security enviroment. I think its maybe a problem with incombatibility between server and clients. We use windows professional 2003 as end user interface. With the old Server (windows 2000) it hasnt been a problem for 3 years. Has anybody problems like this or know a solution ?

greetsWed, 18 Nov 2009 13:27:25 Z2009-11-26T01:15:20Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/5090448c-b4d7-42aa-9482-d9a0aa769aa6http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/5090448c-b4d7-42aa-9482-d9a0aa769aa6driverithttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=driveritWindows Could Not Load Installer For VolumeI have been trying to install a Seagate external USB drive for a customer on their Windows Server 2003. This is the first time I am setting up a server, so everything is a bit new to me still.

This is the situation: we have a small office with three computers, and I figured we could set up a server using some old hardware (for lulz, basically). This office is situated in a big building with many offices and computers, and there is one internet connection for the whole thing, which means we until now had different static IP's for all computers in the office .

Here is my plan: instead of all of our computers connecting directly to the internet and the house network, only the server would be connected to the house network+internet and it would then act as a DHCP server and share that connection with the other computers connected to it.

Old way:
Internet--(Static IP)--Computer 1
|--(Static IP)--Computer 2
|--(Static IP)--Computer 3

New way:
Internet--(Static IP)--Server*--Switch--(Dynamic IP)--Computer 1 |--(Dynamic IP)--Computer 2
|--(Dynamic IP)--Computer 3
*The server has two network adapters

I tried to set up DHCP on the server and I also tried to set up NAT, but to be completely honest, I'm not really sure what I technically want to do. I did manage to get the DHCP server running somehow, and I even got the clients to connect to the server (could browse shared folders), but I didn't manage to connect to the internet.

I would really appreciate someone holding my hand a bit and helping me out, would be great to get this working. I will of course provide any additional details.

Thanks in advance!

----

I would rather get this sorted (if it's possible to do) sooner than later, so I decided to post here as well. Any help is much appreciated!

It seems I cannot get the chart looking as I'd like it to here, so please check the Afterdawn thread for details!Wed, 25 Nov 2009 21:51:46 Z2009-11-25T23:54:55Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/77bcc073-b2ff-4f47-a7dc-1aa79e5b1333http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/77bcc073-b2ff-4f47-a7dc-1aa79e5b1333Mike Mackiehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Mike%20MackiePeriodic server core BSOD/Reboot, need help with bugcheck report
Hi,

I have a brand new Dell PowerEdge R710 and it has been crashing occasionally for the last while. I SUSPECT it's RAM related (as I removed and readded RAM before the problem started occuring), and I will be reseating the modules as soon as I can (during off hours) however I thought I would post up my debug report and see if anyone could make something of it, because it sounds like a processor issue from what I see, then again, I have no idea how to interpret this.

0: kd> !analyze -v
*******************************************************************************
*                                                                             *
*                        Bugcheck Analysis                                    *
*                                                                             *
*******************************************************************************

CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT (101)
An expected clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor in an
MP system within the allocated interval. Hello,

I am new to windows server 2008 and not sure what I am doing is correct.
I created a scheduled task in Windows Server 2008 scheduled to be run daily at a specific time at the highest privilege. The scheduled task was set to be hidden and run whether I log in or not. The task executes a batch file, which by itself does not take longer than 30 min to run as I have manually tested it. The task was scheduled to run at night. The next morning, when I came back to work, the batch file was run and completed but the task did not stop and had a code 0x0431. As a result, my batch file was not scheduled the day after as the previous scheduled task was still "running" and I did not allow multiple instance of that task to run. So, I have to force the previous task to stop for the next one to run. Is there a more elegant way to nicely terminate the task from the batch file when it completes and let it return a code of 0x0?

Many thanks!

FrankWed, 25 Nov 2009 13:35:38 Z2009-11-25T13:56:37Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/376ed47b-27fa-460f-af62-6f2122c5cb02http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/376ed47b-27fa-460f-af62-6f2122c5cb02Magheshhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=MagheshTerminal Service on Windows Server 2003 R2 <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-alt:"Calisto MT"; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1107304683 0 0 159 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-alt:"Arial Rounded MT Bold"; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1073750139 0 0 159 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman";} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; font-size:10.0pt; mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} -->
Hello,

Is it possible for to get a trial key to enable Terminal Service for (300-400) users on Windows Server 2003 R2 for 90 day trial period.

Thanks & Regards

Maghesh
Wed, 25 Nov 2009 12:29:32 Z2009-11-25T13:52:12Zhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/6baa6104-2aaf-4ade-aca7-84e9e4807d1ehttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/6baa6104-2aaf-4ade-aca7-84e9e4807d1eucthakurhttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=ucthakurperfmon: logman -a optionHi

I hope I am posting this question in right forum.. if it isn't, please help with providing path to correct forum or move it there.

Question:
I created a perfmon counter log using command:

logman create counter test_perfMon1 -cf "test-counters.txt" -si 00:00:15 -f bincirc -max 500 -a

I then started it using:

logman start test_perfMon1

it started and data collection happened as expected.
