Hi, I'm doing a reconfiguration of storage so i need to export vm-s. On my current LUN i have only 57 gb of free space. There is a machine with one snapshot, parent .vhd has 12 gb, child .avhd has about 130 GB. In case of problem with reimporting back i want to make machine without snapshot (if i do need make new machine with existing .vhd)

How much space is required to merge the disks together ?

To be safe - add the two together.

I believe that the merge process uses a temp file to allow rollback if the process fails.  Thus this temp file would need to be the sum of both virtual disks (the VHD and its child AVHD).

If a temp file was not used, there would be no way to rollback a failed merge.
