A screenshot of your error would also really help - "a picture paints a thousand words...".

If you provide further information on your issue, I am sure that we will be able to help you out.

We need a picture for sure. But on a side note when you are clustering hyperv machines make sure you asign static MAC address's on each Virtual machines if you want the virtual servers to fail over correctly without bearly any network packet loss during the cluster failover.

You need to go to your secondary server and change the hyperv setting, once you open the hyperv settings you should see replication configuration. In there you can specify a location for the replicas. This is server s 2012 correct?

    Hi HAWK,

Yes it is 2012 Server hyper Failover Clustering, I configured the setting of replication, means i made secondary server as a replica server, and provided the location also, if  i add secondary server name instead of browse for it , it gives error "couldnot contact to replica server". they both are in network, but still, /... resolve it please, if u have any solution.

    Jitin Jha,

Just to clarify the replication functionality in server 2012 is different from failover clustering. The screenshot you have provided is HyperV replication which provides similar functionality. Double check that you either have port 80 or 443 open in the firewall depending on which authentication you have decided to use.

Which authentication are you using 80 or 443? Make sure your not using the root of a hard drive also, I know UAC has some fits when you do anything on the root of hard drive.

I dont think the drive is the issue then. I'm going to assume that you have "Allow replication from any authenticated server" Checked? or are you specifying servers to allow? Also the folder that you specified for the replica location, make sure that you give the SYSTEM account full control on that folder.

Yss , i selected "Allow replication from any authenticated server" and given the location Drive:/VMReplica named folder, does it to be shared with full permission.?

No it doesnt need to be a shared drive, my current setup is two hyperv servers replicating via 443 and my replica locations are D:\replicas

The error to me looks like when you click on Browse, it cannot find any domain locations.  Can the two Hyper-V Servers see each other?  What happens if you manually type in the FQDN of the Server or the IP address?

You may want to check both servers DNS and make sure they are actually pointing to your Domain Controllers. One or both of your hyperv servers may not be communicating correctly with active directory.

Your servers may not be able to communicate with each other. try after checking connectivity.

So you have these setup on a domain yes?

you need to setup VERY specfic AD settings for replication to work.

You never did provide information about your configuration.  Domain/Workgroup?  Network configuration?  Nodes can reach each other for other tasks?
