I had a VM in Virtual Server 2005 R2. Then I moved it over to Hyper-V. I am trying to uninstall Virtual Machine Additions but getting a strange error I can't get past:

It says: {\Tahoma8}You can install Virtual Machine Additions only on a virtual machine that is running a supported guest operating system.

I have moved other guest machines over without this problem. It's running XP SP3. I hope I can find a fix to this because I don't even HAVE any Virtual Server 2005's installed any more in my environment. Any suggestions? Thanks!

There are different versions of Virtual Machine Additions that have been released over the years. It appears that you have an older version. You must remove them from within Virtual Server or Virtual PC. You can try running msiexec from a command prompt and try to forcibly uninstall the additions, but this probably will not work. You really need Virtual Server or VPC to do the removal.
