Friday, December 11, 2009 1:06 AMModerator My Hyper-V servers are in a workgroup. You cannot manage Hyper-V from XP. Managing Hyper-V from Windows 7 is your best option, although you can manage it from Vista, which I used to do.
Here is how to enable the Hyper-V Manager in Windows 7:
1. Go to Turn Windows features on or off.
2. Open up Remote Server Administration Tools.
3. Open up Role Administration Tools.
4. Select Hyper-V Tools.
5. Click OK.
6. Run the HVRemote tool on your Windows 7 machine and your Hyper-V server to properly configure security oand other required settings.

Sunday, November 06, 2011 1:31 AMI have a weird situation: A Vista machine with Hyper-V Server Manager connecting to a machine with Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 without any problems. I am using same workgroup/user/password on both. But I have a second machine with Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 SP1, also using the same workgroup/user/password of the Vista, but I cannot connect hyper-V Manager with this second server. Already enabled remote management in the blue command window, already ran hvremote, already disabled firewall on the Hyper-V, there is NO way to get connect to it. Always get the damned message "You do not have the required permissions...". The machine can be pinged, I also can connect with RDP to the console, but Hyper-V Manager cannot connect, in the same Vista where I can connect to other Hyper-V Server with the same Hyper-V Manager. The problem it seems is not in Vista. It's really complicated to do what should be the MOST simple task on a system with VMs, to manage it! Microsoft finally got it! Always like too much the MS systems, but Hyper-V seems to be made not friendly on purpose, I flaw I thought was only reserved to the disgusting Linux. Any help???

one more question,
I have Hyper-v instaled on server 2008 R2, and I try to manage it from Hyper-v console installed on Windows 8 client.
I recieve some error about managing Hper-v installed on server 2008 with console from Windows 8. (it says that you can't manage Hyper-v on server 2008 from windows 8 client)
eny suggestion or solution...
