My Hyper-V setup was running smooth until I went to access it with Hyper-V manager.  I cannot connect to the service with Hyper-V manager.  I noticed the following error messages:

    • EVENT 14090
The content of the authorization store could not be updated from the store persistent location. Error: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (0x8007000B).

Rebooted and received the following three error messages

    • EVENT 17040:
The authorization store could not be initialized: 'msxml://C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Virtual Machine Manager\HyperVAuthStore.xml'. Error: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format. (0x8007000B).
    • EVENT 14096:
Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management service failed to start.
    • EVENT 14112:
Network WMI provider service failed to start, error = 2147942411.

Now in services, two of the three Hyper-V services will not start (VMMS and Network) and Hyper-V manger does not connect to the Host locally or remotely to this host.

    Any Ideas?

There is a "master copy" of this xml file stored at Program Files\Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008\AuthStore\
Just copy this over the one with the bad format. I would rename the old one as a backup in case this doesn't work for you.

If you're using SCVMM, then follow jrpike22's instructions on how to recover the hypervauthstore.xml file.

Did you recently update your box. My Hyper-V was working fine until I installed some updates today and now I'm having the same problem you are having.

    The updates were:

        KB950974 - Server 2008 x64 security update
        KB953733 - Server 2008 x64 security update
KB951066 - Windows Mail for Server 2008 x64 security update
        KB953838 - Internet Explorer 7 security update
