    I have a windows 8 machine that I want to install hyper-v on.  I simply went to the control panel and enabled it from the turn windows features on or off.  So what I have is the Hyper-V Management Tools, but not the Hyper-V Platform.

    When I try to connect to a server, I select local computer and get a message telling me that Hyper-V has not been installed on computer localhost.  I thought windows 8 shipped with Hyper-V?

    Hi.

    When you want add Hyper-V to Windows 8, you do that under "Programs and Features" and then click on "Turn Windows Features on or off".

    Expand "Hyper-V" and notice the two features there. "Hyper-V Platform" and "Hyper-V Management Tools".  Select Both and reboot your computer.

    Note: Your computer must be fairly new and have Intel VT(virtualization technology) in the CPU.
    Check that under something like "Processor Features" in your computers BIOS.

    Hi,


    Firstly, please let us know the edition of your Windows 8.


    If you run a 64-bit Windows 8 Pro or Windows 8 Enterprise, you can have the Client Hyper-V feature.


    However, to use the Client Hyper-V feature, firstly, please make sure that your computer meets the hardware requirements:


    Hyper-V requires a 64-bit system that has Second Level Address Translation (SLAT).


    We can run msinfo32 to verity it.




    Then, please verity that the all Hyper-V features are turned on.

    you windows must be x64 .

    in windows 8 x86 we don't have any option for  Hyper-V Platform 

    Try Harder...
