I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine running WMS. Early this morning the server hung for unknown reasons and had to be hard rebooted. Upon log in, I saw the error "WMS Anonymous User Authentication Plug-in Error ( 0x8007052e ) - Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password."

I went into the user manager and reset the user password for WMS_[machine name], and then changed the password for anonymous login. Login happened, WMS was happy, except...

...all 100+ mount points disappeared. Where could they have gone? Where are mount points stored? I have a hard time believing that all mount points are just... gone. There has to be some metadata or stored configuration information somewhere.

I have tracked down a file that appears to have server configuration information in it, including mount points. It is located atC:\Windows\System32\windows media\server\ServerNamespace.xml

In my case, that XML file is devoid of any mount point information. All of that information is just... gone. It's going to be a long, long week.
