Remote Desktop Printers WIndows Server 2008
I am trying to configure a printer for one of my users who connects with her laptop to our server via Remote Desktop. Checking the event viewer I noticed the following error message:
Driver Kyocera Mita KM-2550 KX required for printer Kyocera Mita KM-2550 KX is not installed on the server. Contact the administrator to install the driver before you log in again.
What is strange is that I have the following print driver:
Kyocera Mita KM-2550 KX
installed on the server. Any ideas why I can't see this printer remotely? We logged on the server after the driver was installed.
Thanks,
David

Hi,
Thanks for the post.
Given this situation, I would like to confirm the following questions:
1. Is the server installed with Windows Server 2008 64-bit? Is the problematic client installed with the 32-bit system? If so, please check if the 32-bit driver for Kyocera Mita KM-2550 KX has been installed on the printer server.
2. Does this issue occur on other users?
3. Have you tried to manually install the driver for Kyocera Mita KM-2550 KX on the problematic machine and check if the network printer can be connected?
In this case, please collect the MPSReport from the printer server for further research.
1. Download proper MPS Report tool from the website below.
Microsoft Product Support Reports
2. Double-click to run it, if requirement is not met, please follow the wizard to download and install them. After that, click Next, when the "Select the diagnostics you want to run" page appears, select "General”, “Business Networks”, click Next.
3. After collecting all log files, choose "Save the results", choose a folder to save <Computername>MPSReports.cab file.
Use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the file and then give me the download address.
- Miles,
To answer the 3 questions:
1. Is the server installed with Windows Server 2008 64-bit? Is the problematic client installed with the 32-bit system? If so, please check if the 32-bit driver for Kyocera Mita KM-2550 KX has been installed on the printer server. The server is Windows Server 2008 32-bit. The print driver is also 32-bit.
2. Does this issue occur on other users? This is the only machine trying to print to this printer.
3. Have you tried to manually install the driver for Kyocera Mita KM-2550 KX on the problematic machine and check if the network printer can be connected? The problematic machine can print to the network printer when connected "locally".
I have captured the diagnostics and uploaded them to Windows Live SkyDrive. My question now is how I can give you the download address so you can analyze the problem? I don't want to broadcast the file location to the Internet.
Thanks,
David - Miles,
Have you had a chance to read my response?

- Can anybody point me to where I should send the "dump"? I really need to get this working for my users.
