You can apply the tricks below depending on your needs:
- Hide drives
You can hide the drive letters for the users for which you want to disable access. The NoDrives key in HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion can be used. Adding these decimal numbers to the value hides the corresponding drive(s) after a restart:
A: 1, B: 2, C: 4, D: 8, E: 16, F: 32, G: 64, H: 128, I: 256, J: 512, K: 1024, L: 2048, M: 4096, N: 8192, O: 16384, P: 32768, Q: 65536, R: 131072, S: 262144, T: 524288, U: 1048576, V: 2097152, W: 4194304, X: 8388608, Y: 16777216, Z: 33554432, ALL: 67108863
For example to hide drive A and drive D, you would add 1 (A) + 8 (D) which means the value should be set to "9".

Disable autoplay
You can disable autoplay for all users on a computer on the CD-rom drive by specifying 0 as the Autorun value in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CdRom -
Disable the use of the floppy drive and CD drive
You can set the Floppydisk and CDrom service to not start automatically be specifying 4 as the Start value in the following registry keys: -
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdrom
-
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\FlpyDisk

Hi,
Thanks for Sander's input.
Besides, if for Windows Vista client, we can also disable them trough Group Policy under
Computer Configuration-->Policies-->Administrative
Templates-->System-- >Removable Storage Access.
Enable 'CD and DVD: deny read access' policy to disable CD ROM access.
Enable 'Floppy device: deny read access' policy to disable Floppy access.
