AnswerServers having different Input and System Locales - Is this okay?

I have been trying to hunt down the answer (well google), and would like to know if there is a down side to multiple servers having different locales set. I am in New Zealand so the locales question will reflect this, but should not matter in the answer.

    The situation I have is:

    • Public SharePoint server has the System Locale set to en-nz and the Input Locale set to en-us.
    • Content SharePoint server has the System Locale set to en-nz and the Input Locale set to en-us (so both SharePoint environments are the same).

    • Public SQL server has the System Locale set to en-us and the Input Locale set to en-nz.
(in reverse to the SharePoint server setup)

    • Content SQL server has both the System and Input locales set to en-nz
(different again to the examples above)

    Is this okay?
Would/Will there be any impact to the environment?
Should we be recommending that they be aligned?
    Is there a downside?
