    Hi,

PXE and boot.wim are different things. With PXE you boot your machine and connect to WDS. After that you have to choose which boot-image (boot.wim) you want to start and then you can select your install image.

If you want to deploy a Win 7 image you have to add the boot.wim from Win7 into WDS to make it deployable. The same for other operating systems

    Greetings

"NO DHCP or DHCP PROXY SERVER OFFER" indicates that the PXE ROM isn't receiving a reponse from either you DHCP server or your WDS server (WDS is the proxy DHCP server).

Check to ensure that you have a functioning DHCP server on this subnet. Also verify that your WDS server is configured to answer the PXE request of this client,

Do you have DHCP and WDS installed on the same machine?

    Hi,

ok if you have both images in wds that's ok.

Is your WDS installed on the DHCP-Server? If so then you have to set the following options:

"On the DHCP tab, select Do not listen on port 67 and Configure DHCP Option 60 to PXEClient (for Windows Server 2008 R2, this option is labeled “Configure DHCP option 60 to indicate that this server is also a PXE server”)."

In another thread the problem was that WDS was installed in a virtaul machine and running on Hyper-V. The solution was to use a network card of the type "legacy network adapter".

    Hi

Dear i have used the same configurations as you said and double checked it...... i m not using virtual server. I am using Windows Servder 2008 standard edition on a HP PROLIANT DL 380 G5 server machine.

Today i have formatted all and then try to install form scratch ... i installed the AD DS , DNS and DHCP, WINS, but when i use the IPCONFIG/ALL, i can see the DHCP is NOT ENABELED. I am really in tension with this.

    Hi,

maybe a stupid question but the server has fixed ip? With a dynamic IP it won't work.

Do other clients get an IP when they boot up to Windows?

    Greetings

    Hi

Thxs once again for your post, i said in my last post that it is correct that i am using the Static IP. and it seems DHCP may be not working due to this configurations.
Additionaly i said that Static IP is required to work with WDS and AD DS.
Please assist me what to do .....
When i boot client , it attempts to start PXE boot but failed after showing MAC address of cleint

    Hi,

Set your WDS server a Static IP address such as 192.168.0.1. And set the DHCP IP address scope from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.100.

Open the DHCP console, right-click your domain and click Authorize. (If it has already been authorized, you will see Unauthorized. In this case, please skip this step.)

Open the DHCP console, right-click your domain, point to All Tasks and click Restart.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi Tim !

thxs for reply, yes i have already done so. These recommendations and other configurations are set according to :  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770637(WS.10).aspx#BKMK_2

Please give me tips to fix it out.
Also when i do IPCONFIG/ALL then i can also see that DHCP enabel = NO, i am in a bad condition with this ! (WDS and DHCP on same server)

NOTE: May be i done mistake to configure Static IP to WDS, can you also elaborate how you recommend to Set your WDS server a Static IP address  (WDSUTIL /Set-Server /BindPolicy option to force WDS to use Adapter )

    Run WDSUTIL /Set-Server /UseDHCPPorts:No /DHCPOption60:Yes.
    Run WDSUTIL /Set-Server /UseDHCPPorts:No.
    Run WDSUTIL /Set-Server /RogueDetection:Yes.
    Run WDSUTIL /Set-Server /Authorize:Yes.
    WDSUTIL /Set-Server /AnswerClients:All.
    WDSUTIL /Set-Server /AllowN12ForNewClients:Yes
    WDSUTIL /Set-Server /ArchitectureDiscovery:Yes.
