I purchased Windows Server 2008 Standard which came with 2 discs.  One with the 32-bit version and one with the 64-bit version.  When I try to install using the 64-bit version, I'm only given the option to install using the X86 architecture instead of X64.  It is also only allowing me to use the X86 version of the RAID driver.  These are the specs on the server:

    3Ware RAID Card 9650SE-4PML (RAID 5)
    - Driver: 3.00.04.020
    - Firmware: FE9X 4.08.00.006
    - Boot Loader: BL9X 3.08.00.001
    - BIOS: BE9X 4.08.00.001

    2 Intel Quad-Core Xeon E5405 Processor 2.00GHz 1333MHz Processors
    8 GB Memory
    SuperMicro X7DVL-L Motherboard

Any ideas on why I'm not allowed to install the 64-bit version of Windows Server?

    Hi,

You computer should support 64bit systems. Can you install Windows Server 2008 64bit without installing Raid Controller? Does any error message appear? Please let me know the exact wording of the error message.

In addition, you mentioned “It is also only allowing me to use the X86 version of the RAID driver”. I would like to know what’s the result if you install the 64bit Raid driver?

Sometimes to install a 64bit system, we need to change a BIOS setting first to enable the motherboard to support 64bit systems. You may contact the BIOS manufacturer to enable this feature.

    Hope it helps.

I am having the exact same problem with my setup. I'm going to ASUS to see if there is a bios update. I am running an entry-level server (Core i7 950 with a 2-disk RAID mirror). I am not prompted to install a raid driver during install, the install program seems to recognise the drive already. Any additional infor on this would be appreciated. I have to get this thing up soon and I don't want 32-bit!
