Answereffect on computer groups of adding a replica WSUS server

I have a 2 networks linked together with a WAN connection. There were 2 computer groups created with 1 being the local .10 subnet and the other being offsite on the .12 subnet. Originally both groups contacted the wsus server on the local .10 subnet in order receive updates. Note I am running wsus 3 sp1 on the main server
I have since installed wsus 3 SP1 on a remote server on the .12 subnet and configured it as a replica server for the main wsus server on the .10 subnet. The intention being that this would reduce network traffic on the WAN. Do I need to do anything to ensure that the remote computer group (which contains all the computers on the .12 subnet) receive its updates from the new replica wsus server?

You'll need to change the policy configuration for the machines on the remote subnet so they point to the new replica server, but that appears to be the only thing you've not already covered.

    Hi,

As the Lawrence suggest modify GPO for OU which .12 subnet system belongs to & delete these system from your upstream server.

What setting you have for downloding update metadata ? Since you can configure your server to take update approval from upstream server whereas download updates from Microsoft Site, which will reduce network traffic also.

    Regards,
    Sachin.

Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten about checking the group policy. I have now set one specifically for the .12 subnets PCs and hopefully that will be it.
