Hi,
Thank you for posting here.
Windows Update Agent is a service provided by the Microsoft Corporation that allows you to determine which updates will be installed onto your computer. When Windows Update Manager is enabled, your computer will check for updates automatically every time you log in.
So what did you mean by "uninstall windows update agent from windows 2008 r2"?
We don't recommend any kinds of uninstalling of WUA.
If you don't wanna get some updates in the windows 2008 r2,you can select the updates to install manually by your configuration.
Best regards,
Clarence

Maybe a more significant question is Why do you want to uninstall the Windows Update Agent? To your question: The WUAgent is a core component of the Windows OS and cannot be uninstalled.

The "latest version" is only applicable to machines with Service Pack 1 already installed. There is no need to uninstall the WUAgent. The WUAgent v7.6 will upgrade on a Win7SP1 or Win2008R2SP1 system that has the WUAgent v7.5 installed.
On a Win7RTM or Win2008R2RTM system that has the WUAgent v7.4 installed, you should not upgrade it to v7.6. The 'bug' does not exist in the WUAgent v7.4 that is installed by WU/MU/WSUS3SP2.
The v7.6 build was expressly designed to fix a 'bug' in the WUAgent v7.5 that shipped with the SP1 package for Win7/2008R2 and should only be applied to those "SP1" systems.
Furthermore, I'd treat this as a "hotfix" and only apply the WUAgent v7.6 to SP1-based systems that need to have that 'fix' applied. The fix is related to the ability of the WUAgent to successfully download a CAB file >350MB. Unless you're deploying Microsoft Office via your WSUS server -- which is how this bug was found -- it's highly improbable that you will encounter this issue in normal everyday WSUS usage. (Unless Win7SP2 happens to be >350MB!)

Hi Pradeesh,
If you need to reinstall the WUAgent, you'll have to download the latest version and use the /force switch in order to install it over the existing version.

Hi Lawrence,
This knowledge you shared on the WUAgent v7.5 issues made me think...
Any Win7RTM (or Win2008R2RTM) upgraded to SP1, will get the V7.5 installed over the v7.4? Or just those machines freshly installed with the SP1 included on the install DVD/Image?
Is there a way for me to check remotely (or with a script) which machines are running the WUAgent v7.5? Do you think it's advisable to just install the V7.6 on all of the Win2008R2 SP1 and Win7 SP1 machines, so the issue will never affect my machines?
Thanks in advance!

The current WUAgent version is available in the WSUS computer group listings. Enable the "Version" column.Do you think it's advisable to just install the V7.6 on all of the Win2008R2 SP1 and Win7 SP1 machines, so the issue will never affect my machines?
It's really a matter of personal preference. I prefer to NOT install updates until they are needed. The V7.6 build came out on a fairly accelerated schedule (to fix the bug in v7.5, that doesn't exist in v7.4). My choice is to not install the v7.6 until I absolutely need it. (In fact, I've been looking into the viabilities of downgrading the SP1 machines to the v7.4 agent -- because I know that one is stable and bug-free.)
