SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 ~ WSUS?
-
Thursday, January 10, 2013 9:49 AMHi All,
I've tried speaking to MSFT support (NL) to ask the following question, but no one there seems to know the answer to my questions...
What I'd like to know if two-fold.
1. is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2777358 (Cumulative update package 4 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2) the latest CU for SQL2008R2-SP2?
2. Am I correct that http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30437 (Server 2008 R2 SP2) is not yet available via WSUS?
-3. if 2 is correct, when will it be? or won't it be ever?
-4. if 2 is not correct, and it is available, (but not showing in the available updates, eventhough the product (sql 2008 r2) is selected as a product to check), how to solve it showing up in the console? and should the CU4 then also show up?
ASAP response would be very much appreciated (!).
Thanks guys!

Hi,
>> is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2777358 (Cumulative update package 4 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2) the latest CU for SQL2008R2-SP2?<<
Yep, to my knowledge CU4 is the latest Cumulative update package for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2
>>Am I correct that http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30437 (Server 2008 R2 SP2) is not yet available via WSUS?<<
Yes you are correct, Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 2 not yet available in Microsoft Update Catalog and accordingly not available via WSUS.
>> if 2 is correct, when will it be? or won't it be ever?<<
I think you should ask this question to MS SQL Server Team, AFAIK that date is not announced; Also you can ask this question on SQL forum may be someone can help you.
