The classifications I use for our mid sized organization (~500) are

    Critical Updates
    Definition Updates (Forefront mostly)
    Feature Packs
    Security Updates
Services Packs (just in case, hardly ever have to use this one since we use images)
    Update Rollups
    Updates

Pros are that you can see what is being offered for that classification, you do not need to approve them.

Cons are that it does take some time to sort though if you are just starting a WSUS server.

    Good answer. Thanks!

Regarding Update Rollups particulary I wanted to ask about their importance?

As far as importance of that category, it includes such items as Internet Explorer, Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, Update Rollup for ActiveX Killbits. The Update Rollup for ActiveX Killbits are security related, but they are in the update rollups categories.

Also in that classification are the DST updates.
