WSUS Clients reporting in but stuck at 97%

I am having problems with WSUS 3.0 SP1. The clients are populating in the WSUS console and start the initial check for updates but gets stuck at 97%.

There are various events in the application log:

Event 12052 DSS Authenticaion not working
Event 12042 The simpleauth server not working
Event 12022
Event 12032
Event 12002

The windows update log displays the following:

See whether you can access the file from IE:

http://wsusserver/Content/BB/B763712EE43F0FD0430236022685AE9E6E5707BB.txt

If not, look on the WSUS server to see whether that file exists. If the file doesn't exist, you may need to run this command:

c:\program files\update services\tools\wsusutil reset
