    Hi,

I'm in the middle of migrating our WSUS server to a new Virtual machine.

I did the normal install and everything was fine but we wanted all instables to go to D:\ instead of C:\program files so I added in a reg key to change the default path to d:\

I followed the steps on TechNet how to uninstall WSUS 3.0 SP2 and just before the install was about to finish it would start uninstalling.......

Any help would be great :)

I took a copy of the error log,

Anytime you hack customizations into an environment, it's a reasonable expectation that you're going to have issues, and is particularly true with WSUS. Changing anything post-installation will almost always break WSUS.

WSUS is installed to %PROGRAMFILES%. This is not user-customizable.<//span>

The WSUS v-root is mapped to %PROGRAMFILES%\Update Services\webservices. This is not user-customizable.

The %PROGRAMFILES% content requires less than 420MB, and about 50MB of that is UI-related foreign-langage resource content that could be purged after installation. If the target server doesn't have at least 1GB of free space on the SYSVOL, then it's not a qualified machine for running WSUS.

The location of the database and content files is user-configurable, and the installer provides a dialog screen for specifying those locations. In addition, they can be moved post-installation. A tool for moving the content store is provided in the WSUS distribution; a document describing how to move the database is available in the WSUS Operations Guide.
