(Bug) Word 2010 cannot remember printing properties for HP OfficeJet 6413

Hi,
When I want to do a selective printing (duplex[yes, no],paper type, print quality, dry time etc.) of a document in Word 2010 I go to File->Print->Printer Properties then the menu of the printer (part of the driver, HP based) pops I select my preferable options and press OK. In a normal condition when I'll press the "print button" the printer will print the document exactly as I defined before, now what happens is that she returns automatically to her defaults and prints another way the see the bug is if you select (highlight) one of the predefined printing option (e.g Presentation printing) then press OK and then you press right back on Printer Properties and you see that the highlighted printing option is the default one - General Everyday Printing.
This only occurs on Word 2010 (I have no previous versions of it installed) and the driver cannot be the problem because my PDF reader - Foxit, handles the Printer Properties well and remembers my printing preferences for every print keeping the until I close it (close session) or I'll change them again for another print in the same session).
I'm using fully activated Word 2010 x32 on Windows 7 Ultimate x64
I hope this bug will be fixed ASAP either by Microsoft or by HP.
Thanks
Roey

Hi,
You can select some printing options in Page Setup, and these will be saved with the template,
But settings made in the Print dialog or printer Properties cannot be saved with a specific file.
Word always starts with the default printer using its default settings.
You can change printers or Properties settings for the duration of the Word session
(or until you change them again during the session),
And you can change some print settings for all documents in the Print Options,
But none of these (except "Print data only for forms" in Print Options) are saved with a document/template.

Dear Harry,
That is not possible, how can it be done on a miniature application like Foxit Reader and can't be done on MS Word 2010?!
I checked it in other PC using Word 2003 and it worked fine.
I don't use printing options in Page Setup because they don't go down to the printing options "resolution" that I'd mentioned.
I'm speaking on the same session of course Word 2010 doesn't remember (not saves) the printing options of my HP printer I'd set him, a second after I press OK he automatically returns to the default printing option.
Thanks

I have a similar problem with Samsung ML-2015.
But this problem not only with printer! This problem also with Fax, Send To OneNote 2010, Microsoft XPS Document Writer and other printing devices.
On Windows 7 Ultimate x32, Word 2010 x32 all is fine.

The problem cannot be only with the printer because everything goes well for me on Foxit Reader ! it remembers my preferences before every print !
What it has to do with the OS ? My OS ia Windows 7 Ultimate x64 but I'm I running Office 2010 x86 under it.... -

Same problem here, this after we upgraded our office 2007 to office 2010.
It's only word that has the problem here. Excel, outlook, powerpoint, they all can remember the printer settings, only word keeps going back to the default settings and won't remember selections of paper size etc.
We're working with Xerox multifunctionals with different paper trays that contain three different types of papers. User cannot select a different type of paper when printing in word, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
OS is windows7x86 Enterprise with Office2010x86.

A small workaround for the problem we're having: when you select 'Page Setup' in the print selection, cycle through the three tabs (margins, layout, paper) and press ok, he remembers the windows printer settings.
Mind you, we didn't change anything. Just the action of opening the page setup and cycling through the options seems to trigger the printer to enable the correct settings.

i made the correct printer settings, and ms word 2010 will never forget or change the settings if you will try to do this: first go to lower left part of the screen windows 7, you got there and arrow pointing up, there you can find many hidden icons, this has its name but i cant remember by the way just follow this. then after clicking the arrow up find the icon of your printer then right click and select printer settings, set everything you need, then after that ms word 2010 will remember you settings again.

Hi Nuno,
I don't have this problem anymore.
Maybe there is a driver compatibility problem with word 2007 (I use word 2010).
Install the latest driver from here and try again.
