Knighthttp://social.technet.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Brian%20D.%20KnightHello,<br/><br/> <p>Chkdsk checks the file system and file system metadata of a volume for logical and physical errors.  This is run before a defrag and during a disk analysis.  When the /f flag is specified, chkdsk fixes errors on the disk, but the disk must be locked to do this. If <strong>chkdsk</strong> cannot lock the drive, a message appears that asks you if you want to check the drive the next time you restart the computer.<br/><br/>My best guess is that when you use the user interface to run Analyze of Defrag, those programs execute a chkdsk /f, but are unable to obtain a lock on the C: volume because there are open files on the disk.  Therefore, the program is
