Is there any document that describe we can synchronize mail store with log file before taking full backup? Or any one know if there is a commend that I can run to synchronize mail store with log file before taking backup. I have Exchange server 2010 and taking backup with Symantec backup. But Symantec backup is not synchronizing log file with mail store.
Thanks,

did you check with vendor? do they support exchange 2010 backups?
if they do, then probably the jobs are not configured properly.

It support to backup exchange data base but they are also not sure that it synchronize with log file before taking backup.
Hi Amin90,Have you restored the Exchange data successfully using the StorageCraft ShadowProtect?
Do you want the logs be truncated after you backup the Exchange database using StorageCraft ShadowProtect?
I would suspend to use it to backup Exchange server as even it is not be confirmed to fully supported to Exchange 2010.

when you take a backup of Exchange, it will take both database and the logs.
at the point of backup whatever logs are committed will be already in the database.
unless you have seomthing wrong with ur ssetup, usually logs files will be committed as soon as possible.

The Symantec and Storage Craft Shado protect which I have it just backup the data base.
It doesn’t synchronize data base with log file before taking backup. Also after backup the log file is still there.
Don’t have this issue if use NT backup
If I could fine a commend that I can make script to synchronize log file before taking backup that will be help full too.

Hello Frank.
Thanks for reply; I am able to successfully backup my exchange DB. But it doesn’t clear the log file once backup is done. So than it means it is also not commit the log file with DB too.

Hi Amin90,If you want to check which logs are committed to DB, you can use Eseutil /MK to check the Checkpoint file:
How to Run Eseutil /M (File Dump)And since you said you can backup Exchange successfully using Windows Server Backup(NT backup), so I think it should be the issue with ShadowProtect.
