You have any problems with the FIM services and profile sync?

Hi all
I am using the SP 2010 RTM, with one WFE and one SQL - server.
I have managed to import profiles from a forest's OU, and my site is created for the profiles, but still I keep getting some errors. I have googled a lot, and found that many of those errors were bugs in the SP 2010 beta.I keep getting this warning
Event ID 1004
Detection of product '{90140000-104C-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}', feature 'PeopleILM', component '{1C12B6E6-898C-4D58-9774-AAAFBDFE273C}' failed. The resource 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Service\Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe' does not existAnd this error

Do you get these errors also? Any tips for this? :)

1. For the Event ID 1004:
======================
The reason that we are seeing this message is that the WMI calls are made under the credentials of Network Service account and it doesn’t have permissions to the folder in which Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe is located and thus the resource not found error is logged.
The error should go away if the Network Service account is given permissions to the folder (as indicated in the error)where the resource is located. (C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Service)2. For the Event ID 5555:
=====================
a. Go to the user profile service app, click on the Administrators button in the ribbon and give Profile sync account Full Control rights
b. Then click on the permissions Tab and click and give that account full control there as well.
c. Do an IISReset and monitor to see if the errors go away.

Okay this is an old thread, but just want to report that we fixed the event ID 5555 errors.

After running the "stsadm -o sync -deleteolddatabases 2" and setting the Timer recycle job to start at 6:30PM, the problem went away.
Admittedly the Timer recycle job change seems pretty weird, but I threw both solutions at the problem due to impatience and it looks resolved.

Hello,
i'm getting the same two errors on rtm. The User Profile Import seems to work but these errors are remaining.

Hi Mike
Have you resolved these errors?

Currently not. The error still remains.
The same error also occurs on the official Informationworker SPS Image.
Maybe it's by design? :-)

Nope.
We've used Kerberos in CA for testing purpose but the error remains the same when using NTLM.

Hello, I'm getting the same.
Detection of product '{90140000-104C-0000-1000-0000000FF1CE}', feature 'PeopleILM', component '{1C12B6E6-898C-4D58-9774-AAAFBDFE273C}' failed. The resource 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Service\Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe' does not exist.
Everything seems to work, if I look at miisclient.exe everything is success, BUT
everywhere are 0 (zeros) and user parametrs are not synchronizing between AD and SP.
Don't you know what could be be ?

Hello Tomas,
you can get rid off Event ID 1004 (ILM) Error with granting the Network Service permissions to the
'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\*' directory.Hope this helps.

I have the same errors. It seems there is a timer and every 30 minutes it tries to do something and I receive these exceptions in my event log. I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit, SharePoint 2010, TFS 2010, and SharePoint was automatically configured to run with SQL Server Express 2008.
Any help I can get trying to resolve the exceptions below would very much be appreciated.

I am having the same issue and can not import my new AD users in to the sharepoint.
Here is what I did , start the FIM Service Manually , it was stopped , now both services are running and try to import again, success .
It took 5 minutes . for some reason userprofile import is not as good as it was in MOSS it takes longer to import even if every thing is running smooth ..
Reminder: It is not recomended to start FIM services manually .
-
Thursday, June 17, 2010 10:01 PMModeratorWhat you may want to do is to look at ULS log to check if there's any error related. Most of the time it could be permission issue or caching issue (remember FIM is actrually not a part of SharePoint, it does have a lot of weird requirement). Also, look into your timer job logs, check if there's a failure for the profile sync job setup. THe error message there can help to determine what problem you may have.

Granting NT Authority\Network Service permissions to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Service directory did it for me.
Just read & execute should be enough.
-
Saturday, June 19, 2010 9:51 PMGranting permissions only to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Service might not be enough because from time to time it tries to reach C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\sql also - at least in my environment.

I tried granting that account rights to the directory and that did not work. Then I created a domain account and granted it local admin rightson that server and used it to run all the sharepoint services but the errors persist. Also my FIMS and FIMSS will not run, I am not sure if that has something to do with it either. Here is the error message when I try to start Forefront Identity Manager Synch. Service (FIMSS):

Hi to all
I'm also having the Event ID: 5555 error, but my User Profile Sync seems to be working just fine... strange.

We have the same errors. We are working on th 2010 RTM. We could start the Sync service from PowerShell and eliminate 5555 (with the help of Microsoft support). Check if that helps.
Please let me know if you found any solution for Event Id: 1004
Also I am trying to setup filters on the connection and FIM gives error
The server encountered an unexpected error while performing an operation for a management agent.

Try adding the application pool account to the administratos group in the manage service applications page and start the service from PowerShell command window.

Firstly if possible SharePoint should be setup to use a domain user account that has local administrator rights to the Server. If you are using the Network Service account to run services then you probably need to make the security change logged in another entry - I always use a farm install even for single server instances.
Secondly use either the domain user service account in the Connection settings or another domain user account that has rights to access your domain controller to retrieve the AD information. If this account is different from the SharePoint service account then its worth giving it local administrator rights to the SharePoint Server.
Once you have done this a quick test is to click the populate containers button, if the containers list is populated then the problem should be resolved - otherwise you'll get an error message that should indicate the problem (normally that the login is invalid).

Granting the Network Service permissions to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\Service AND C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\SQL directory worked for me. My profile service has been working fine, but I'd consistently been getting a bunch of errors every time the synchronization job ran.

1. For the Event ID 1004:
======================
=====================
a. Go to the user profile service app, click on the Administrators button in the ribbon and give Profile sync account Full Control rights
b. Then click on the permissions Tab and click and give that account full control there as well.
c. Do an IISReset and monitor to see if the errors go away.

I am getting the same problem event id 5555 . but the question is, its showing on my WFE where userprofile service is not even running its on appserver . Now if i will give profile sync account full control the error stops coming but it was for couple hours . why is it coming on WFE on the first place . any idea ?

For Event ID 1004 I had to grant "Network Service" also to the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office Servers\14.0\SQL and ...\Tools folder. With this permissions I was able to start the user profile service.
Thank you for the hint, Fred!
