You have to log into either MSDN or TechNet into the Subscriber section (see link to login on the right of either page). After you go to the Subscriber section, there will be links to the downloads.

    It's now available at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd353205.aspx

However, when I sign in, all I get is "Server is too busy".
Oh well. If the server is already too busy before availability is even announced, then I have little hope...

Well, at least something is happening behind the scene.

I would guess some techie is busy making last minute changes before it hits live, and the "server busy" and 404 is just side effects of the work the tech does.

Well I suspect MS figured they would have enough gear in place for this and they likely do.  Problem is they are probably seeing unbelievable saturation on their network core.  I would have figured they would have enlisted Akamai to assist with this release.

If I'm not mistaken, the 2.5mil downloads are for public downloads only. Not including partner, TechNet and MSDN downloads. I still can't download through my TechNet link. It's still greyed out. So I don't think anyone has gotten a legit download yet.

Torrent is more for like open source projects to save money. At ~180€ for Vista SB you should expect them to have enough money for download servers

After having wasted half a day now, I will be very frustrated should I not get a key. Due to the desastrous infrastructure problems, Microsoft should give everyone a key, not just the "first" 2.5 million people. Because by now, it's impossible to tell who was among the "first". I surely was among the "first" who tried, but didn't succeed so far. Now I'm giving up trying.

Why do I need a key? Because I want to give feedback that actually reaches the Microsoft engineers.

I've heard many of you mention that you have been trying for quite a while to download the Windows 7 beta. If you enable alerts to this thread (which happens automatically by default), you can watch for a message from me when the download becomes available. This way you won't have to keep trying and asking when it will be available. I will also update the "Beta Download" announcement.

well come on they know very well that the demand would be high. I bet most people have the ISO already and just want the key code. I have the dvd from msdn but cannot use the key code from msdn as we will need them for development.

    i got my key!!!

try to open this site until you get it
    https://www.microsoft.com/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-64/enus/default.aspx

this only works if you already tryed to download it earlier and filled in a form where your e-mail was checked.
and i think that you have to be logged in to your live-account.

    here's a picture as proof:

no, you just need to be logged in there to be able to access the key websites, in which there is a lot of f5'ing to try and get a key.

You can try the links explained on this site.

That's where the a lot of "F5"ing comes in. If you keep refreshing the web page, you will finally get the code, but only once, so make sure you look every time you push the key. You just keep refreshing and hoping!

ff or ie? Does it really matter much? They both time out.

I had received mine in ff a few hours ago now by this method and have win 7 activated.

the second time it said it would take 10hrs and i am on broadband.  I thought it was me but i just downloaded a 1.5 gig file and that took 20min. so this has to be a microsoft server problem.
anyone know if another link i  can pick up windows 7?

It is still showing ERROR for me. That's 1/2 the fun still there and working.

Hey, so check it out.  I was attempting to download earlier today on my laptop and got to the fill in page before it failed.  Then I had been trying this F5 trick for the past 45 minutes to no avail (i logged into the profile center and all that jazz).  Still no luck.  Then when I went back to the laptop of my initial download attempt, that trick took in the first or second try.  Hope this helps somebody.  So, if you did get to the "fill some fields in page" of the download process...that trick should work.  But it seems to be hooked to your windows passport and the computer...(windows cache).  BTW, I had killed my internet cache earlier today and that doesn't seem to matter.

I've never liked that download manager plugin on FF. Try installing IDM and let it download the file for you. Install, restart FF, load the page and right clcick on the ISO link and select "Download with IDM".  I've just checked the links and I'm getting 900kB/s flat, which are my absolute maximum transfer speed.

"ohh I have a feeling they are prepared for the server loads that will come once Beta 7 is made available to the public.. ;)"

    LOL

I was  downloading when they crashed yesterday.  Now, well over 24 hours later, and they are still  scratching their heads?   Hey Microsoft, hang up on the support call to pcsafety, XP SP2/(now3?)-they've never been able to assist my crashes either--until months down the road after they received additional calls for the same problem!!  Hence why your still working on that  big reoccuring  problem gdi..... patch/repatch/patch/sp3/patch

I was able to get the download started on one machine, by going to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx and choosing the version, page showed with product key and let me download.

now I am on a 2nd machine and trying to download the 32bit version and keep getting directed to
    https://www.microsoft.com/library/errorpages/smarterror.aspx?aspxerrorpath=/betaexperience/productkeys/win7-32/enus/default.aspx
after selecting english 32bit version...  I got the product key for this one the other day, from my mac but wasn't able to get the download to work.  I have tried neowin's download and other direct downloads but they all fail around 300mb

I have signed out of windows live Id, deleted cache, tried both IE6 and FF3 and even restarted but to no avail. does anyone have any advice to get the download working?

The reason that the download didn't start on the Mac is probably down to the browser

I wound up with a LOT of keys trying in Firefox and never got the download button to work

Switcxhing to IE 6 for that did work (FF worked in everything else - just not the download link)

I'm trying to download the Windows 7 beta, but nothing is happening. I'm not getting any type of errors like server busy or anything. I've tried from three different computers to see if I get the same results and I do. When I click the "Download Now" button, I see in the Status Bar that it says "Waiting for www.microsoft.com" then it goes to "transferring...." and then "Done" after a sec or two and nothing starts downloading.

Nothing seems to be happening, is this an issue that others are having?

I know this one expires on August 2009.  Wll this be the only beta? or will Microsoft issue another one, or will microsoft just issues windows updates to update this one?

and if there is another beta will it be posted here in this forum?

    thanks

    thanks Tony :)
I have this on virtual pc 2007 sp1 so i wanted to know so when the next comes out i can delete this one and install the next one.

Hopefully Microsoft will get all the kinks out by then because since i can run it virutally i want to be able to show it to my clients and also i give free seminars now on How to keep your computer safe- and also on Taking the fears away from purchasing a PC with Vista.  This way I will be able to give them a glimpse of Windows 7 too :)
I give these free seminars to non profit organizations at least 2 to 3 a month.

For those with the download, check out the handy tips on the Windows 7 beta 1 Tips page. I like the keyboard shortcut article myself.
