System Error/Emergency Shut Down
- I recently got this blur error screen when the computer was in idle, it said "Windows had to shut down to protect your computer from damage. If this is the first time you are seeing this restart your computer. If not check the Driver causing this shut down." The Driver is "System.sys". Is there any way to fix this without reinstalling the OS?

Well that helps a bit. You probably want to go through the drivers and find the one which actually uses this file, which for the moment we believe to be an Intel based WiFi card, based on the prior contents of the thread.
So what you probably want to do is go into the device manager and find this Wi-fi card, right click on it and select properties then pick the driver tab and click on the driver details button and verify that this system.sys driver is there. If it is, then exit out of that screen and click on the update driver button and hope that a newer version is found at windows update.If the driver file is not there then you will probably need to do a bit more investigating on your end but basically find the device the system.sys driver is associated with, report the issue to Microsoft so that it gets addressed when Windows 7 ships and try to update to the latest driver from Windows update.
If you already have the latest driver and are seeing the issue still, then report the issue via the submit feedback so that you dont have to deal with this problem when Windows 7 ships.

- well, i would suggest cheking your event viewer from the computer management consol and looking deeper into the error, look for critical system errors and paste back some of the errors.
Mike - These are the only errors that appear there are in the log, and both of them cause it. Both are logged under Kernel-Event

Where did this System.sys driver file come from? Why is it being loaded on your system? Where is it located on your system? Is the system.sys driver signed?
I am pretty sure it is not part of the base operating system. In the past, malware writers would name their executables with a generic names such as "system.sys". I hope I am wrong about that in your case.- This system is in a folder at destination C:\Drivers inside that folder is a folder called r140623 and inside is a bunch of security catalogs and setup information files labed in numbers. There is a Text document telling me that this folder is full of drivers for XP upgrade with out user interface. In the document it says its from intel, but the driver is not signed at all.

A couple of questions then would probably clarify some things:
1. Are you on a Dell machine, the folder structure is reminiscent of the Dell based driver downloads? Not necessarily relevant, just curious.
2. Are these Vista drivers or XP drivers?
3. How were the drivers installed onto your machine?
4. What device is this driver file supposed to manage?
5. Can you update your device driver through Windows Update? - Yes i do have a Dell, its a Inspiron 6400. They appear to be XP drivers, but before the upgrade to 7 I had Vista Home Premium. I believe the drivers were installed by a Dell auto-update program. The driver controls a INF file preload, I think it is my Wi-Fi Card. I looked every where and the driver does not have an update. I will try to get a pic of the Error screen, it is still popping up, but now its not just during idle.

Remember if it is intel based wireless card, go directly to intel's website for the driver, u may get lucky and get a nice beta win 7 driver or at least a updated compatible vista one.

this happens when i'm playing call of duty 4 pc game.
Is this related to video card drivers or my cpu overheated? It is overclocked but i highly doubt it was this. I keep thinking it's something else. Can someone figure out this accurate code so i can find info what exactly IT is?
