When i search for updates , i get the message that 1 important and 5 optional updates are available.
Windows update states that "No updates are currently selected."
When i click on the message to select updates, i get a new window ( Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\Select updates to install).
That window have tabs on the left side, showing 1 important, and 5 optional updates. But there is no "updatelines" to select in that window. The window just contains nothing...
Anybody that have experienced anyting similar or know the solution for this ?

    Try another way to update
From control panel (set view as small icon) choice windows update. new windows will pop up (Control panel > All control panel items > windows update)
2x left mouse click on important update or optional update. Check update that you want to install.

EDIT :look at image below. make sure you uncheck that.

I'm having the same problem... For the past week or so, no updates have been showing on the detail screen, but Windows Update says I have 1 important and 3 Optional updates.

I have this problem too. I've installed RC1, and it has been working perfectly, until now. WU say I have 1 important update and 32 optional. When I click on the "1 important update...." button, the list is empty but states that 1 important update is selected.

Is this issue a known bug, and maybe there is a fix  for this?

The list for optional updates is also emtpy, so now I have no idea what update Windows is trying to install.

    Hi there,

I'm also having this problem. I'm running Windows 7 x64 final RTM (downloaded from microsoft's technet).

Is there any hotfix or workaround available??

     Proposed Answer
I found the reason. Checkpoint VPN. I deactivate the checkpoint item in the lan or wireless adapter settings and all updates are visible.
