AnswerBlue Screen on Windows 7

  • Tuesday, November 03, 2009 7:39 PMMolsondog22 Users MedalsUsers MedalsUsers MedalsUsers MedalsUsers Medals

I am running a new HP Pavilion 6250 with AMD quad processor 64bit which came with Windows 7 installed and an HP monitor. The computer randomly shuts itself down for no apparent reason and reboots to the log in screen. After logging back in it says that it has recovered from an unexpected shutdown. It says it will check for a solution to the problem but then nothing else happens.

    Hi,

Since Windows system uses separated user mode and kernel mode memory space, stop errors are usually caused by kernel portion components, such as a hardware device, third-party drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services).

Please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.

    1. Boot the computer in Clean Boot for a test.

    2. Temporarily disable all unnecessary hardware devices in Device Manager, such as Modem, sound card or external device.

For detail steps, we can refer to the link below:

    Device Clean Boot

    3. Run antivirus program and perform a full scanning.

If the issue persists, please upload the minidump file (%systemroot%\minidump) to SkyDrive ( www.skydrive.live.com ), then share the link to me. I will be glad to assist you to analysis the data.

    Thanks,

    Novak

Can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available via Windows Live Skydrive or similar site?

I have uploaded the zip file to Skydrive. Thanks!

So far after running the clean boot, I think I have found the culprit to be one of the HP files. Since they were from the manufacturer I selected just HP files first thinking they would be the least likely problem. Wrong. SO I unchecked the HP files and checked all the other files. So far so good. I went back into the action center and was able to create temp files to zip and send. Also, for some reason, When I tell Windows to search for a solution it does, then it says windows needs more Information, I click ok but it says it's having trouble sending the information and to try again later.

I may have accidently set up a LAN when I set up my computer. I have no LAN cable connected to the computer. I am using a wireless Linksys router instead. Could Windows be looking for a LAN cable that does not exist? If so, How do I correct this in Win 7.

    too_smooth78 you are receiving a VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116) caused by the nvlddmkm.sys

Your graphic drivers may be corrupted so I would suugest to uninstall the graphic drivers you have now and download and install the latest drivers from NVIDIA.

BTW, what video card do you have?

Since the blue screen did not occur after clearing the HP files, we can conclude that the HP file is the culprit. Please keep clearing the option to avoid the issue. Meanwhile, the system will not look for LAN cable automatically when there is no wired cable on the machine. You need not worry about the LAN cable when using Wireless.

felibo, your are experiencing a different Stop Error so you may benefit from starting your own thread.

However, from your minidump file your issue is being caused by the driver for your network card, specifically the lne100v4.sys. The lne100v4.sys has a timestamp of "Thu May 04 02:07:50 2000" so is an older driver and may not be compatible with Windows 7.

If you are unable to find a more recent driver for you network card consider, if it is possible, to remove the card,  and install a network card which has compatible Windows 7 drivers.

too_smooth78, I would recommend to consider uninstalling the video drivers you have now and install the following drivers from NVIDIA:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/win7_winvista_64bit_191.07_whql.html

Also, it may be beneficial to install the following update for the Operating System to update the dxgkrnl.sys (DirectX Graphics Kernel) and other system files:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/974431

You can install the update manually or via Windows Update.

Ok, I"m having the same problem, the puter locks up and now my internet connection just quits. I closed all programs running and the cpu is going at 100%  When I restart it hangs for like 10 mins and blue screen comes up just like these people.
I think I want to go back to vista no probs at all.  My first question is: i made the recovery disks for vista, can I go back???
I can do what you said for these people also.
I really don't like what you all did with the windows explorer in vista and in 7. The old one was way better for finding files and u can see your whole harddrive at a glance.
I'll wait for ur answer thanx.

mooleyjones, can you zip up the minidump files in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and make available via Windows Live Skydrive or similar site?

The Stop Error you are experiencing (DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE) may be from a third party driver.

mooleyjones, in Skydrive can you create a new folder and select to share that folder with everyone.

Then move the minidump file(s)  into that folder and then provide the link (copy and paste the web address) to that folder.

moolyjones, the minidump files revealed a DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (9f) Stop Error (A driver is causing an inconsistent power state) and that driver has been identified as the netr28ux.sys.

The netr28ux.sys appears to be a driver for a wireless adapter.

Now the netr28ux.sys has a timestamp of "Sep 15 00:36:45 2009" so it appears that this driver has been recently updated.

What wireless adapter do you have and where did you get the drivers for the adapter?

mooleyjones, Zonet does not appear to have a Windows 7 driver for the ZEW2545 adapter but you may be able to pick up a certified 64-bit driver using Windows Update.

The ZEW2545 adapter, according to Zonet, has the Ralink RT3070 chipset. This Ralink driver is available via Windows Update and should hopefully install for your adapter.

What I would suggest is to unplug the ZEW2545 and then uninstall the drivers using "Uninstall a program".

After restarting the computer plug the ZEW2545 adapter back in.

The ZEW2545 should then show up as an "unknown device" in the Device Manager.

Right-click this "unknown device" > Update Driver Software > Search automatically for updated driver software.

Hopefully the Ralink driver will then be installed.

Here's a link to the actual driver, if you want to download and have a look at (you will have to install the ActiveX control) - the larger sized file is the 64-bit version:

    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Search.aspx?q=RT3070

The netr28ux.sys driver in that package is a slightly older driver (May 2009) but is certified for Windows 7 and, as such, should work better.

In the Device Manager can you right-click the wireless adapter > Properties >  Driver

What is the Driver Date and Driver Version?

    Then click "Driver Details"

hello i uninstalled my video drivers and installed the one u linked. but the same probulem happened. everything fine until I try to copy things to my storage drive . I even tryed a different storage drive. but same results. do you think there is anyway to get around this probulem without having to ditch the motherboard video card and buying a better video card such as " 1gb geforce 9400 gt" ? and one more thing does my monitor have anything to do with this probulem? the reason I ask is because the new driver pack added 3d view and my monitor wouldn't display in that mode.
