Installation Froze At "Completing Installation"
- Hi,
When installing windows 7 32 bit retail, it froze, at completing installation, and transfering, files proagams and settings.
The mouse freezes. I treid disableing USB legacys, unpluging usb devies, clean boot, reburned ISO at all different speds on different discs, check disc, and installed on different paritions. I think that is it. I tried 2 forums, no answers.
Thanks for any help.

- I got it to install finally, with someone in a forum, but not Microsoft's. It was the SATA Drivers, and I updated/flashed the BIOS.

Mr. Microchip - An Experienced Computer User - - HiI know this probably isn't going to help but no one else offered any thing so....I installed Windows 7 32 bit on my old computer today.I followed the instructions on the enclosed card exactly. This was an upgrade from XP and I was not trying to save any setting or programs from my previous installation. At the same point that you mentioned the installation just stopped and wouldn't continue. When I forced it to reboot it booted back into XP even though I would have expected the XP install to have been wiped by then.I restarted the process and this time I just booted from the DVD directly instead of starting it from inside Widows XP and it installed fine.I'm assuming you are upgrading from Vista since you are transferring your stuff. You might want to try backing up all your files and settings using the utility suggested for XP (it is identified on the XP install instruction card) and the chose custom install which will make a clean installation instead of transferring anything from your previous setup. The only thing I can think of is some conflict with your old settings.Mike
Hi,
So you performed an upgrade install, did you? Does the installation arrive at 63% of the “Transferring files, settings, and programs” step? Regarding this kind of issue, I would like to propose the following suggestions:
1. I noticed that you own a Windows 7 32 retail version, thus I recomend you to perform a clean install booting from the DVD drive to test if the issue occurs.
Note: you'd better backup your important files firstly.
2. Make sure that your motherboard is updated. You may need to download the latest drivers from Intel website and install before upgrading to Windows 7.For Intel Matrix Storage:
Intel(R) Matrix Storage Manager
For Intel Turbo Memory:

I'm having the retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit burned to a disc, not RC or beta i.e.
Also, I'm doing a clean install.
It froze at the last step, with just the dots running. Then the dots, and mouse froze. Not sure about the keyboard, it seemed frozen too with the lights.

2. Post the last few lines of setupact.log or zip and upload it to SkyDrive, then let us know the URL.
