    Hi,

    The CTMLFX32.dll should belong to Sound Card driver software.

    To troubleshoot this issue, try renaming the file in Safe Mode:

    1. Keep pressing F8 upon restarting and select Safe Mode on the boot menu.

    2. Enter C:\Windows\System32 folder, find out the CTMLFX32.dll file, and rename it to CTMLFX32.old.

    Restart the computer.

    If the issue persists, perform the following steps:

    Reinstall driver

    ==============

    1. Click the Start Button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box and press Enter.

    2. Double click to expand "Sound, video and game controllers".

    3. Right click your sound card and click Uninstall.

    4. Check "Delete driver software for this device" check box, click OK.

    5. Restart the computer

    If it does not work, type APPWIZ.CPL in the Start Search Box and Press Enter. High light sound card driver software and click Uninstall.

    If it still does not work, please collect the CPL file and I will check it:

    Collect Control Panel information

    ==============

    1. Click Start Menu, type "cmd" in the Start Search box.

    2. Right-click the exe file and choose "run as administrator".

    3. Input the following commands in the DOS prompt window and press ENTER at the end of each line:

    CD C:\Windows\System32

    Dir *.CPL -> C:\CPL.TXT

    6. Go to C drive, find out the CPL.TXT file and upload it to http://skydrive.live.com/.

    I had the same issue so I went into device manager and uninstalled/removed Realtek driver software from the computer.  That fixed it immediately without going into safe mode.  Who uses realtek anyways!!!

    I had this problem with my x-fi xtremegamer sb0730 with windows 7 32bit. The sound worked but every time I opened the control panel explorer would crash. So I tried Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Series Daniel_K Support Pack 2.0 which still didnt solve the problem. I then uninstalled the realtek drivers and it work perfect :D

    I just installed the SB X-FI extreme gamer and windows did the automated driver updates/installs.  The sound worked but every time I opened the control panel explorer would stop working and reset.  removing realtek device and drivers solved the problem.. Thanks!
