Dlink Airplus DWL-G510 rev A
- I have searched the ends of the internet for the last couple of days and have not been able to resolve this issue. I am trying to install a driver for my DWL-G510 Airplus wireless card. I am seeing a lot of different places where people are using this card successfully, however I am wondering if the version of the card I have is the only one that is not compatible. Could anyone please direct me to some answers if they know? I would really appreciate it. The card I have has A1 at the end of the serial number so I am guessing I do not have a revision B or C in my machine here. Thanks in advance experts.

- Care to be more specific? You can't get the dlink airplus pci to work?? Have you try inserting on another pci slot and are you running the drivers from dlink itself or using windows default drivers?
- My appologies. I knew I should have re-read this before I posted. I have a reasonably fresh installation of Windows 7 64-bit version. I have a fully functioning DWL-G510 Airplus card in windows xp, but in Windows 7 I am unable to find a dunctioning 64-bit driver for the card. I only get the Code 10 "this device cannot start" whenever I try a different driver. I have tried all of the drivers available from Dlink with no luck. I have tried it from a different PCI slot yes, with the same result. I am reasonably confident that the problem is the driver (or lack of a funtioning one) that is my problem. I wondered if anyone had any insight into this.Thanks in advanceShoofly
- P.S. windows cannot find a driver on its own for this...again I am guessing because of the 64 bit version

Thank you for posting.
I have also checked the Dlink site for this product and I noticed the sentence “This is an End of Life product”; and the latest driver is only for Windows XP.

Based on the current situation, I suspect this should be a hardware issue. As there is no Windows 7 driver for this product, alternatively, please try the Windows XP driver with Compatibility Mode and see how it works.
Meanwhile, please also try this:
1. Download the driver via the following link:

2. Extract the driver package to the desktop.
3. Go to Device Manager.
4. Navigate to the device (Dlink Airplus DWL-G510) (or it may be just an unknown device with a yellow exclamation mark), right-click on it and select “Update Driver software”.
5. When the “Update Driver software” window appears, please choose “Browse my computer for driver software”, and locate the folder which you have just extracted, check the item “Include subfolders” and click Next. Then the driver will be applied automatically.
6. After installing, reboot the computer to see if it works.

Thanks so much for the great suggestions. I am afraid that they did not solve my problem, but the only drivers I have found that might have possibly worked were a 64bit driver from Dlink themselves, which unfortunately after selecting the driver...the only revisions in the list were either DWL-G510 Rev C. or DWL-G510M Rev A. Both of these I tried and neither of them worked. The other driver I found that could have possibly worked was from the chip manufacturer, Marvell Libertas 88W8310 chipset. This driver I was very excited to see installed without an issue, but said that there was no digital signature so Windows 7 apparently does not allow it to run.
Again I really appreciate the assistance, but now I am thinking my only choice is to get another card/adapter. So since Dlink does not want to support the first revision of this "end of life" card.....does anyone have a CHEAP wireless N PCI or USB device I can buy that IS supported by Windows 7 64 bit? I would love to hear any suggestions you have.

Have you try running under vista compatible mode and next run as administrator, if you have doubt as how to go about it, take a look at the following guide- Yes I tried running the software bundle as administrator and both vista compatible and windows xp compatible, but the software download only has the drivers for the older Windows OS, 4 directories (win2k, win98, winME and Winxp) so I am guessing even though I am trying to run it in a compatibility mode, the drivers simply are not included in the "bundle"

did you notice any freezing after you tried this because it worked for a while but my computer kept on freezing so i uninstalled the driver and the freezing stoppedtry this

The first version of hardware is not compatible. It was not even compatible with Vista. Look here. Unless it is a DWL-G510M rev A.
Your best attempt would be to try the XP drivers in compatibility mode. How to install a device.
Here are the wireless network cards compatible or ceritified with Win 7 at this point in time.
This looks nice. $35 US. - I just used the link to download the drivers for Windows 7 32 Bit, I used the XP 32 Bit driver and now my wireless network is working. Thanks.

- i too have a dwl-g510 rev A1. in windows 7, the wireless network browser doesnt work, so the trick is to set up the network manually. like this....
start at the network and sharing center.
>>click: set up a new connection or network
>> choose: manually connect to a wireless network
>> and then just fill in the details
it wont look connected in the taskbar, but the browser will work.
