What is the error message? How does it work if you access the NAS with the IP address but not the name?
Additionally, did you link online ID in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\User Accounts? If so, how does it work if you remove the link?
I suspect that the issue occurs during the authentication process. What is the model of the NAS and what is the authentication method?
You may:
1. Open gpedit.msc.
2. Find the policyWindows Settings -> Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Options ->Network Security: Configure encryption types allowed for Kerberos
3. Configure the policy. If it is not configured, actually both DES cipher suites are disabled. I suggest that you enable all the suits.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009 5:51 PMThank you for your prompt response. I appreciate you taking the time to assist me and I apologize for the almost meaningless problem description.
The following describes my system: Cable modem; D-Link DGL-4500 router-IP XXX.XXX.XXX.51; PC1-IP XXX.XXX.XXX.52; PC2-IP XXX.XXX.XXX.53;
D-Link DNS-323 ( NAS )-IP XXX.XXX.XXX.54; Samsung ML-2851ND ( Network Printer )-IP XXX.XXX.XXX.55;
When I select Windows Programs/Network I am presented icons representing Router, PC1, PC2, and Printer. No display for the NAS box.
From Internet Explorer I enter the the IP for the router and am presented the adminstration page which is expected. I enter the IP for the NAS and am presented the administration page which is expected. I enter the IP for the Network printer and am presented the administration page which is expected.
I executed the gpedit.msc command as you suggested and there was no difference in results with all encryption types enabled or disabled.
There is no difference whether I have user credentials defined or absent.
I uninstalled Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant and was able to see and access my NAS box.
This is not a major problem for me as I really do not use the sign-in assistant; I opened the problem for investigation by the experts.
One other item fyi, this problem does not occur with Windows XP SP3 or Windows VISTA 32/64 bit.
