Does anyone know if there is a way to specify where icons appear on the desktop?

It would be useful to have a poisiton or area which is dedicated to system folders and recurring icons such as removable drives away from where docuemnts are located.

I just put them where I want them and they stay there. Perhaps you have Auto arrange icons checked in Desktop properties?

Right click on the Desktop and point to View. Is Auto arrange icons checked?

    My Desktop looks like this:

Also, you can uncheck "Align icons to grid" to put the icon to any position on the desktop.

Please see if the issue can be resolved.
