XP mode does not start anymore

I used XP mode (and Virtual PC) for 5 months on my system without problems.
Suddenly (without changing any hardware!) I got an error message trying to start XP mode: (sorry it's in german)
Event ID 1000 and Event ID 132:
Virtueller Computer ''Windows XP Mode''. ''Windows XP Mode'' konnte aufgrund fehlender Übereinstimmung beim Hostprozessortyp oder fehlender hardwaregestützter Virtualisierung auf dem System nicht wiederhergestellt werden.
means: XP mode can not be restored because of missing hostprocessor compatibility or missing hardware-assisted virtualization.
I know there is hardware-assisted virtualization, because I used it all the time. I tried then to disable the virtualization in the BIOS.
The errormessage was a little different. There was a hint to turn on virtualization in the BIOS. I turned it on again, but got the same error as in the beginning.
I think it is a software problem because I did not touch the hardware, but I have no idea where to search.
Thanks for any hints.

Thank you for all the hints.
I found a solution that helped me to use XP mode and all virtual PCs again.
I did the following:
There is a directory (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Virtual PC\Virtuelle Computer) with the config-files for my Virtual PCs and for the XP mode. For each virtual machine I found 3 files:
xyz.vmc / xyz.vsv / xyz.vmc.vpcbackup
I do store the harddiskfiles (xyz.vhd) on some different place (exept the one for the XP mode).
Now I just renamed all .vsv and .vmc.vpcbackup files (maybe you also could delete them).
This allowed me to start the virtual PC and also XP mode again. The missing files were regenerated automatically. That saved me from reinstalling the whole Software. I still have no idea how this happened.
Regards,
Chris

Try uninstalling the Windows Virtual PC program that opens the XP Mode VM and then reinstalling it.
If that doesn't help it is possible that your CPU has failed.

Hi,
I would like to suggest you update the BIOS.
If it does not work, you may also try to refer to the following link and install the update to test the issue:
Does it work?
