    I installed Centos 5.3 running kernel 2.6.18-128.1.6

after installation there was no network connection. Doing an ifconfig only shows the loopback nic. Therfor i have an issue with centos installing the NIC.

I tried to install the Integration Services for Linux but i cant complete it because I get an error that no kernel-devel or kernel-source package installed.
since I dont have network connection i cant run yum, so what do i do?

Under the VM settings there's an option to Add Hardware, where you would then select the Legacy Network Adapter component:

Hyper-V Virtual Machine Settings - Add Hardware

Not sure about CentOS support with the Linux Integration Components, but you should be able to add a Legacy Network Adapter without a problem.

Can you give me some info on how to add the adapter then?

    Thanks for your time,
    Brad

Thanks Ryan! That did the trick!

After removing the virtual network adapter and adding the legacy adapter, i rebooted Centos and it came up properly.

    Thanks for your time,
