    Lab Module Seven Point One

Provisioning AMT 2.6 devices using PKI provisioning through the WS-MAN Translator.

    ----

I know, I know .... I'm dreaming again. Seriously though, this is a problem. No one seems to hear me on it either, even though I'm not the only client with this issue. 2.6 isn't "Legacy" anyway ... it was current up until 4.0 and 5.0 were released in September. The lack of support for this firmware (which makes up the vast majority of our install base) is a big black spot on what could have been an awesome product feature.

I've talked to engineers at Intel, sales people at Intel, sales engineers at Intel, SCCM support reps at Microsoft, our account rep at Microsoft, a SCCM product specialist at Microsoft, and no one seems to be getting the picture.

We need support for PKI provisioning AMT 2.6 clients from SCCM

Please, would someone from either Intel or Microsoft just make this happen? I'm about at the end of my rope on this issue, and would sooner scrap the entire technology than be forced to use only a fraction of a percent of our client base, where we could use a lot more. I've begged and pleaded for information, but the best I can get out of anyone is "we're working on it." I need dates, I need some sort of guarantee that something will be available eventually. Intel AMT 2.6 is not "legacy" .. it's current for a number of organizations out there. If I could get sales figures from Dell on their Latitude D630C, for example, I'm betting you that it wouldn't be very small.

Well, surprisingly enough, I finally received an official response on this issue today. I had opened a support ticket with Microsoft after speaking with our account executive, and got pretty quick turn-around.

As it turns out, Microsoft will be offering a hotfix for this compatibility. PKI provisioning of Intel vPro devices running firmware versions 2.x will be supported. I cannot express how happy I am to finally have confirmed information.

    Thanks,
