Hello
We deployed a Virtual DPM 2010 server in the lab environement backuping a lot of data.
Now we have deployed the DPM 2010 on a physical server on production environement with a different and bigger storage system.
How could we migrate all the protection groups from the lab DPM server to the production one??
We are trying to put the production one as a secondary DPM and cloning each protection group and when syncroniced then we switch the disaster pretection and delete the protection group switched from primary server, is there another faster procedure??
Thank u all

Hi AEstevez,
You have two options here. You can simply move the protection groups to the new DPM server or you can setup the new DPM server as a secondary and switch protection.
The first way you can do this is to move the protected servers from one DPM server to the other DPM server. Here is a post on how to do this: http://www.buchatech.com/2011/02/move-a-protected-server-from-one-dpm-to-another-dpm/. This option will leave the current protected data on the old DPM server in an in-active state. You will be able to recover that data if you need to.
The other option is to setup the a secondary DPM server (the new one), add all the protection groups to the secondary and then switch protection of these protection groups over to the secondary. Then take down your primary DPM server (the old one). Here is a TechNet link to help with this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb808972.aspx

Thanks Buchatech
By doing the switch option, then I get my protection groups like this:
If I do the command prompt stuff will I get the same message?
Will I have the message out if I do now the command prompt stuff??
Thanks again

Hi AEstevez,
Yes you will get that same message if you run it from PowerShell.
